After finishing printing the final piece this morning, I decided that that piece could do with a minor refinement, although I will not reprint it. Making that change within Fusion 360 took a good couple of hours work to propagate through everything, so I decided to look at the design flow. Because I have multiple different versions available (hemisphere vs equator+pole, three different servos, with or without built in supports) I use Fusion 360 derived designs a lot. Looking how the design has evolved revealed a rather odd design tree, which could be optimised to allow changes with more automatic derivation and much less manual work. The design flow diagrams here are just for the head pieces. The body is nearly as bad. Can I be bothered to put the work in to move everything across? Maybe one day.
Now I need to solder or crimp all the internal connectors, which is another few hours work.
