Expansions
Expansions

Projects that can be added to make Otto starter modular.

Different from current remixes of Ottos, Some of these could be made available as small expansion/extension boxes to add, physical expansion packs.

Hi Guys

I am very happy that finally had time to compare these two new expansions after soo many iterations and thanks to Piers Kennedy calibration it was a breeze to make them walk properly. It is funny that after calibration they both are steering to the right, I must have done something wrong? Please let me know.

On the left there is the Otto esp8266 as promised testing the walk, as you can see it walks quite decent even with the servos at 3.3V I am using an ubec+lithium as Bill SCHONFELDER does in his robots. Anyways I want to leave the esp on hold until we properly document all the new expansions and finish the design for wheels module. But if you like it, feel free to explore it.

On the right is the humanoid expansion I think is gonna be a hit and with the hammer it looks really cool! Can't wait to start some battles or make it play some drums?

This biped races are gonna be fun for the tournament
Otto Line Tracker

All sorted now. The original code simply did not work without some help. Calibration of the 360 degree servos is essential as well as some important revision of the original code.

In the next couple of days I will be adding a 'pen' to Otto Wheels so that he can write his name, draw simple geometric shapes, go on a 'random walk' and also act as a spirograph.

This will give the Wheels expansion some seriously interesting scope for other bulders to create additional, awesome projects.

If it works, I will call him Otto da Vinci.

There are two other posts discussing an RC controller for Otto:

https://builders.ottodiy.com/post/ottorc-this-is-a-quick-post-to-demonstrate-where-i-am-at-with-a-radio-contr--6097dc08b0b11132d83fa97c

I thought this might be better served as a project so that others can add files/pictures etc.

This is a working prototype and I am just about to add the MPU to give the controller 'tilt' functionality. There are better (faster) ways to hook up the MPU and OLED and I am waiting for the module that I need to arrive.

Below is a short demo of the OttoPad. I point out design flaws which need to be addressed, but I am not a designer (so I just stuck everything onto a piece of MDF at this point).

When I have everything connected up to OttoRC and working, I'll post all code (not Blockly, sorry @Bill SCHONFELDER!) and Fritzings. Right now I need to fix the wife's car!
